I have been dying to blog about this for a few days now but needed to wait until my boss had the information first. Yep, that's right, I have a new job!
My new employer will be Clothingsites.co.uk in Adlington and I will be working more closely with ecommerce, an area of online that I really want to get in to. As their name suggests, they build clothing sites. They only have a few (at the moment) which sell men's designer wear (clothes and shoes). It does mean me getting up a lot earlier to get to work but it's an opportunity I can't miss!
I can't wait to start with this company (which won't be until the end of May after my lovely two weeks holiday) but I know I will find it difficult to leave Ten Alps.
Over the past three years I have made so many friends and been made to feel needed. I am definitely going to miss them all but no doubt we will meet up and have a few bevvies down the pub or something.
As for the job itself, well that was the main reason I started looking for a new one to be honest. Since the restructure, I have been given so much work that is not web development related, I was starting to believe I would be there just to do administration and be stuck doing something I really didn't want to do. To be honest, I would have never refused to do any of the work because I know they needed someone to do it and seeing as though I was one of the few who knows the 'Ten Alps way', I was their point of call. At first it was just the listings on the directory but more recently it has been a matter of becoming an extending of publishing and creating ebooks from their publications. On top of that, I have been told I am now the person to upload all adverts to the websites. From a team of people to just one doesn't make sense, but like I said, as there is no one else to do it, there was no refusing it.
However, now I am leaving, these tasks will need to be given to others in the company and I really hope by the time I leave that there is a structure in place for this rather than hitting their desks after I am gone and saying 'right this is your job now, deal with it'.
I am going to miss so many people and I wish they were all coming with me to my new job! You guys know who you are :)
